I am so very excited to officially sign up for the 2020 edition of the Year of the Asian Reading Challenge, hosted again by CW at The Quiet Pond (who also made all of the lovely graphics), Lily at Sprinkles of Dreams, Shealea at Shut up Shealea, and Vicky at Vicky Who Reads!
I’m aiming for the Philippine tarsier level and plan to read 10 books. Although I do have an ongoing Goodreads shelf of potential reads, the books below are ones I hope to (finally) cross off my tbr this year!
♥ Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan → I enjoyed the movie and have heard nothing but great things about the book series, so fingers crossed I enjoy it!
♥ How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe by Charles Yu → time travel, y’all
♥ It’s Not like It’s a Secret by Misa Sugiura → I need more cute young adult lesbian romcoms in my life
♥ Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning by Cathy Park Hong → I’m not saying I hope I love Minor Feelings as much as I loved Trick Mirror, but that’s exactly what I’m hoping for
♥ The Perfect Escape by Suzanne Park → tbh I wasn’t that excited about this book but also whenever I see it pop up on social media or on a blogger’s tbr, I get a little bit more excited. Give me all the contemporary romcoms, please.
♥ Stories of Your Life and Others by Ted Chiang → have I completely annoyed you all with how much I frigging loved Arrival yet? Because omg I loved it.
♥ The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur → I also need more poetry in my life
♥ To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han → I thought the Netflix adaptation of this was absolutely adorable, and I’m looking forward to P.S. I Still Love You; what better time to read the whole series?
♥ The Trouble with Hating You by Sajni Patel → another contemporary romcom!
♥ The Wangs vs. the World by Jade Chang → I’m kind of on the fence about how much I’ll enjoy this (Goodreads has it as 3.1 stars), but I bought the paperback edition and so really have no excuse now
