The Top Ten Tuesday topic for June 19th was “books on my summer TBR,” and I pledged to read the following:

So, what did I actually read?

On the list…

Not on the list…

What I missed…

Did any of you have a summer TBR? Did you stick to it? Let me know!

  1. I read Dead Girls this summer—and the first half of Comey’s book in a bookstore. It doesn’t add much that we didn’t already know, so it’s probably worth skipping. There, There is on my TBR list as well. I’m excited to read it, but I haven’t had the chance yet.

    1. How did you like Dead Girls? (It was kind of a disappointment for me.) I’ve only heard good reviews for There, There – one of these days I’ll actually get around to reading it!

      1. It was also kind of disappointing for me! I was expecting a lot less Joan Didion/L.A., but I did like the first essay and the ones on Britney Spears and reality tv. I got the sense that the author wasn’t fully in control of how her book was marketed, but it still felt misleading.

      2. Definitely. I had it in my head that it was going to be /about/ dead girls and/or our obsession and reaction to said girls. (Which some of the essays did cover – just not enough.)
